Hello Everyone Thank you for the warm welcome. When I was young (mid 1960's), I was fortunate enough to have a neighbor who gave my brother and I a whole lot of old Märklin track with a couple of locos and freight cars to get us started, when he decided to get the new Märklin track that had just been launched. I was hooked. Present circumstances (railroad apartment in NY) have limited my choices, so I got the Trainz and newly released Railroad-X software. While learning these programs I am determining the type of rail system/s I wish to create. Does Trainboard have a digital forum? Regards Puffing Billy PS Can anyone let me know how to link logos and pics to my name? - thank you.
Welcome to TrainBoard! Sounds like N or Z will be your choices. We have quite active forums in both, which can be explored. There are many ideas in the message archives. Signatures and avatars are all in your user profile. At upper right side of any page, find "Settings" (small black letters), click on that. Signatures: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?113925-POLICY-Signature-Size Custom avatars are available to folks who become Supporters. Not quite sure about your "digital" question. If you mean a social networking site such as Facebook, yes. Link in column on page right side.
Welcome to TB. You might look in the computers and trains threads, myself I can barely keep up with the tech. I have now. Bobby
Welcome aboard! I think what you're referencing would be our Computers and Trains forum, which is designed to facilitate discussions of such avenues as computer control of model railroads and train simulators of all sorts. It hasn't been a real active area, but perhaps starting some topics would generate some replies/feedback for you.
Welcome to Trainboard, Puffing Billy. With that moniker, even though you are in NY, do you have a history with Australia?
Hi Jim - Hello Bill Apparently "Puffing Billy" is the world's oldest surviving steam locomotive. It's in the U.K. but your (calculated?) guess was a pretty close one. You're in the right hemisphere and it was a British colony on another continent. I first heard the name of the engine in some bedtime story I really liked when I was a kid, so it stuck in my mind. Add the fact that every male member of my family has had the nickname "Billy" bestowed upon us by our school chums and I used to smoke a pipe - not at school, a little later in life. In fact I started in self-defense - my wife used to smoke cigars.
