its still sitting there by buses. not sure if its trucks are under it yet. i think it would be getting prepped in shop if it was on wheels. looks smaller than alcos.
the sceinic cam can not be backed up maybe they will post more pics and video like they did with alcos
Okay guys, I know this will sound crazy and actually it is in more ways than one. I had to make a trip to Chattanooga this afternoon. On my way back, I was just south of Dalton GA passing the 326 exit (Carbondale Road) at approximately 3:50PM when over in the northbound lanes I saw one of the new Durango & Silverton locomotives identical to the one in the picture Kurt posted above, fresh paint and all. Didn't get the number or a pic. Next exit was 6 miles south so with all the traffic and probably a 12 mile lead by the time I could have turned around, I figured no chance of catching him so just came on south. So, why in the world would an engine for the Durango $ Silverton be on a flat bed truck on I-75 in north Georgia?
A company called Motive Power and Equipment Solutions is doing some work on them. They have a shop outside of Greenville, so maybe it was on the move to the railroad. They were being remotored or something. The Durango and Silverton website had a short post about it.
How many of the new engines are there? I have seen photos of one on cribbing. It does look nice. Seems odd to spend the money and then have it sitting for months like that.
dont what the deal is on them i havent seen their trucks yet. they bought two more alcos they should arrive soon in shipment
Is this what everyone was talking about? https://www.durangotrain.com/introd...ton-narrow-gauge-railroad-arriving-fall-2020/
Yes. (Along with their acquiring ex-WP&Y units.) Looks very strange sitting high atop those mismatched trucks.
