Good morning, I understand ther is a new Hudson type steam loco out there with factory sound installed. Has anyone seen this unit, and how is the sound? Is the sound programed or on demand. Thanks, Scott
http://www.broadway-limited.com/ is the company you mean I think. From what I understand from the details on their website, the loco's incorporate a built in DCC/sound card, on DCC the sounds are fully controllable, on plain DC if you have a controller with no centre off position on the direction toggle you can control the bell and whistle manually whilst the other train noises are automatic. Have a read up as they describe it fairly well on the site. They also have some cool other toys in the pipeline
I,ve seen it. The detail is real nice, not quite P2K leval but very well done . Its a very smooth runner and the spead range is good. The sound is FANTASTIC!!!!!! It will run on either DCC or DC and the sounds will work both ways. The spound is on demand , you will use the direction switch to astivate most of the sounds except for the chuff which is on all the time( think its sincronized 4 beats per rev) this works quite well . should work evan better with DCC and F1 F2.......Mike
i just got mine yesterday and let me tell you its fantastic!!!!!!!! I put it on my test track, four pieces of Kato track, and it lumbered and hissed to a very happy start.Detail is great, sound is superb!!!Get one soon!!!
Alexander, how are you doing with photo uploads? When you see the logo in my name or signature you have to know that NY Central hudsons are dear to my heart. If you have that scan size down below 100k, send me a photo and I'll try to post it, or if you have figured it all out, put one on so we can see it. Please? Huh, huh?

I received my Broadway Limited Hudson J1E in the mail today and it's a beauty. Unfortunately, I'm involved in a home improvement project in my home and so my railroad line is on hold. I just sit and stare at it while having my coffee.
Thanks, cant seem to get the last step.I'll keep trying [ 22. January 2003, 01:02: Message edited by: Alexander Rivera ]
I just got one yesterday. It sounds great! I"m running it on DC while I rebuild my layout. I have read in reviews that it should pull 7 heavwieght cars up a 4% grade. Mine can barely pull itself and two cars up a 4% grade. Seems the wheels on the tender are not very free rolling. Actually I put the tender on a 4% grade by itself and it just sat there as if it had the brake on. I've sent an email to Broadway-Limited asking about solutions. I'll post the responce I get from them.
