I'm curious about the relationship between the NJ RY and the D&H RR. Was the NJ RY originally an independent company, that was later controlled by the D&H? (Date this happened?) Was the NJ RY then operated as a subsidiary of the D&H RR? Does the NJ RY still exist today as part of Guilford? Absorbed? Sold off? Boxcab E50
Guilford has no connection to either D&H (CP) ot NJRR. When I inspected D&H in mid 70s the NJRR began at the US/Canadian border at Rouses Point, NY and I believe it was a subsidiary of D&H but someone more familiar with NJRR would have to confirm or correct my belief. At that time NJRR was not mentioned in the D&H timetable.
CP obtained control of the NJ wheh they acquired the D&H. I also heard NJ's beautiful stone station at Lacolle QC has been placed up for sale.
Darren- Thanks. That certainly answers with a firm date! Is the NJ RY still an independently operated CP subsidiary? Boxcab E50
Try this site for data on the Napierville Jct Ry http://www.cta-otc.gc.ca/rulings-decisions/decisions/1992/R/48-R-1992_e.html You might also try using Google and type in the RR name. There were quite a few sites that came up.
Lenny- Does NJ, or did they, have their own diesels? I can't think of my ever having seen a photo? Boxcab E50
This is correct. D&H #4050 and #4051 were built in 1950 by Montreal Locomotive Works and lettered for Napierville Junction. They were later sold in 1978 to MLW and then again to F. C. de Cuba as #51501 & 51502. I'm still looking for images of them for usage on the DHVM but this information is documented under the RS-2 section. Question: Can I use the above images as part of the DHVM Web Site in the future? Any additional associated information about these photographs you can add?
