Great photos! But, I have to say, although those high hooded horses are nice. Nothing compares to a high steppin' J-Class on an all stainless steel consist of the "Tennessean." But, I really do like those Rockville photos, it's always been a great spot to watch trains.
I have to agree with Jeff. The J will always be my true first love. Every time I think of it, I wipe a cinder from my eye.
Johnny Trains, Welp if your looking for a good train spot, here is one of the best ( At least to me! ) he he. Silve Creek NY. Is great with CXS and NS back to back ! On a good day you can see every thing from the 3:30 AM and 6:30 AM Amtrak on the CXS to the NS hot shots on there way into and out of Buffalo NY. The CXS has a North control siding in Silver Creek and NS has the end of a passing siding right there were we line up to photo shoot both. The best part is you can sit in your car and face The CXS, step out side and turn 180 and right behind you is the NS. Many Railfan come from all over to Silver Creek. Some times in a week end you'll be alone but in most cases you'll meat other rail fans from neat places as far away as Calf. And Canada. Its quite the place. I have been going there sense I was in 7th grade hhmmmm some 17 years now! If you plan oncoming down please let me know and I'll meat you there! Then just a short jog down the road is a place I live called Dunkirk. CXS has a small yard here to service a few local industries and a power plant. But on Monday threw Friday in the morning there is almost always some yard action, and even on some week ends. The NS basically winds its way threw Dunkirk like a snake and some of its curves here in the city are kind of neat. But Silver Creek is the place to be!
