fifer & Bill, Thanks for the kind compliments. I'm not entirely happy with the end, I think I should build it with the steps stowed, not deployed (as in parked) it should be easy to fix up that way, I hope. Your thoughts?
Hemi, do you need some Kato trucks with full side frames to replace the ones that hide behind the skirts? I may have an extra pair I can send you.
I say stowed also. It will look better when running in a train and is how they normally are for the majority of the time.
Not an exact model but close enough is Chicago Great Western business car #99. This was built for someone who used to work for the railroad and also rode this car several times. Hope he gets as much enjoyment out of it as I did while building it.
It's been awhile since I posted anything, mostly due to the weather being unseasonably warm. Have to spend time outside if it's that nice instead of working indoors. Now that it's gotten cooler again, time to finish up the things that have been sitting on my desk for awhile. Didn't help that I partially tore my rotator cuff playing tennis with my kids. Finished up this FB-1 for a friend: Finished up this Chessie System GP40-2 in the GM50 paint scheme. Here's "everything" else... eNjoy! Brian
Ok, so this weekend I decided on a new layout: This is going to be a micro of a tropical Island. Next step is to add the beach (chinchilla sand, unless someone comes up with a better idea), one coconut (palm) tree, and - hmm, any ideas? Some surfers, I would say, and bathers, a bar - hmm, what else? Or alternatively some natives and huts? any idea what "industry" this rather short short-line will be serving? Sven
Everyone has such nice models but more importantly everyone takes great pictures. I have a nice Nikon D3000 and my pictures turn out like crap. Randy
Just finished 99.9% of a Phase I F40PH in Amtrak Phase II paint. The first 30 Amtrak F40s (200-229) were Phase I units and the biggest difference between Phase I units and II/IIIs is the fuel tanks. I had to do some kitbashing to make them correct. Here are some pictures:
Jimmy Buffet concert with a bunch of parrot heads. Bar on a flat circling the show serving magaritas.
Taking a brake to let my eyes focus... Just finished decaling a 2-8-0 for SP that ran on the NWP until 52 still need to pic up a vandy tender for this. Also decaling a caboose letter by letter for NORTHWESTERN PACIFIC will post some photos when done.
Cute. I think the "bar on a flat" idea is definitely on (dang, how do you model N-scale cocktails?). Not sure about the parrot heads, maybe something more Reggae might do... Sven
I mounted the Kato El Cap Diner trucks to the Sunset Limited Baggage/RPO that I am working on. The etching sprew only came with 5 baggage door stirrups so I had to make three more out of brass wire. They did not turn out so well. One of them is on this side.
