I'm finally converting to DCC. I'm an N-scaler and am planning to use Atlas code 55 track. I have not decided on whether to use Micro-Engineering's code 55 turnouts, or Atlas code 55. I am leaning towards the M/E's because I like the built-in snap-spring for the points, and do not wish to use a switch machine or manual throw. The Atlas c55's are a possibility, but would require a throw. Any suggestions, advice or other issues that I should know about would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Al.

I chose the Atlas turnouts because of the powered frog. These are DCC friendly right out of the package. I control my turnouts with minature slide switches. This provides the locking mechanism to hold the point rails and provides power routing to the frog. I chose to mount mine right beside the turnout being controlled. They are so small that they look like the power switch machines used on real railroads (after I paint and weather them).

See my website and click on Layout Construction for a photo and a little more explanation.
