Hey y'all, happy (almost) new year! And wow, what a slow year for "new" N scale locomotives 2012 has been (thank you very little, China)! By my reckoning, here's what we got - Kato EMD E5A Broadway Ltd E6A / E6B Life-Like GP60 (revised for DCC support) Bachmann 2-6-0 Cast yer votes! And this is thunderdome as far as I'm concerned, so I won't try to put a "poll" together. Feel free to post a vote for anything that came out in 2012 (old models with new paint schemes, whatever). Cheers, -Mark P.S. As for me, I gotta go with the BLI E6 (specifically the Rock Island version). So sweet!
Aye, I forgot about those. Not technically a "new" model (insofar as nothing was changed beyond sticking a sound decoder in the already DCC-Ready tender). But nevertheless, a 2012 release. -Mark
OUch! I have to say that my Kato EMD E5A ran flawlessly out of the box and has continued so. The DCC conversion was very painless even as drop-in boards go, and it pulled a train during a bunch of open houses perfectly running 8-9 hours a day all of those days. Adam
Was gonna say the B-man 2-10-2, but I guess it came out in late 2011. Guess I'll go with the 2-6-0....Mike
I am in the Kato E5 camp! May have went with the Cab forwards with the sound, but they are just not my cup of tea.
Another vote for the E5...who'd a thunk it? A loco with that short a production and roadnames. Gives ya hope for the future...naaah!
That was just another run and not a new release As far as my vote Kato E5 I think was said. I just like Kato. But none of those Locos excited me one bit... LOL
The Bmann 2-6-0 get's my vote. Just got my first loop on new layout done last night. That loco ran flawlessly for hours, forward and reverse, pulling and pushing. We need that tender as a separate item. Happy, healthy New Year to all.
It's a 'hands-down' absolute certainty that the unexpected and very welcomed Kato E5 was the best.... with the BLI E6 a distant 2nd. The Atlas S2 or Bachmann S4 will likely be front-runners next year... unless a AS616, SW1200, Hudson or FEF-3 is unexpectedly produced by another company
