A modeller wrote me few weeks ago and asked for a trackplan: he wanted to model a mountain railroad in N scale... We had a quite long messages excange and we got the trackplan you can see here: It's about a former NP/GN line crossed by a Milwaukee Line somewhere in Montana/Idaho... The blue line is NP/GN. The Orange is Milwaukee. Staging for NP/GN is light green and staging for Milwaukee is not shown here (it is about 120 mm below the NP/GN Yard. As time frame we choose late '60s and early '70s Do you remember the BN merger, the Milwaukee freight traffic boom and the early Amtrak railbow period??? I guess this is a great period to model in diesel era. You can use early diesels (From F units to early GP 7-9-20; early SD 7-9, the wonderful sd24 and some early GE. Of course, you also can use some Alcos). My new friend is already working on this layout. He report me two or three times a week the progress. At this time, the frame (open grid) is complete, as the subroadbed for the Milwaukee staging, the Milwaukee elixes, the subroadbed for the NP/GN staging an the whole subroadbed for Milwaukee track. He is waiting to work on the main station/yard because we have to check the Milwaukee yard first. I'll visit him next w-e (he lives in Maremma, a nice place in central Italy, I live in northern Italy...) and I'll report the working in progress. Hope not to boring... Ciao,
Hi Giovanni: That's a nice lookingtrackplan. I'd like to see some pics of it when it's complete. I believe the line in question, was Milwaukee's crossing of the NP at Lombard, Montana. I think at one point they also interchanged cars thee in a small yard. Bill
With the track that is not visible A to A, why does it disappear and what does it do. Do you have under the table staging? By the way, I like the plan. What's your minimum radius? What is your maximum grade on it?
