So the fiance gave me an 11'x13' bedroom to play with since she loves trains also! Some of you have seen this room before in other threads. The track is built in modules so I can get them out of the house if or when we move. Here is the track plan! The benchwork is set in stone space wise but if you have comments on the plan I'd love to hear them! I now have space for coal (which will be on the spit by the chimney flue), my coke ovens which will be at the top left of the plan where the passing sidings are (they are really the feed and outfeed for the coke ovens), and two towns.
Yep, you are a lucky guy! I have to say, so am I. When my (now) wife & I were dating a few years ago, she came over to my place around Christmas time. She knew I had some N scale trains stashed away out in the garage. So she asked if I would set up something around my Christmas tree. Christmas is her favorite time of year. So, all I had was Atlas track. I went out and bought a few packs of the Bachmann EZ Snap track and set up a small layout around my Christmas tree. She immediately fell in love with the tiny little trains. A month or so ago, she asked me why I haven't played with my trains? So, here I go again. I am starting small, and then will build something bigger. I appreciate her urging me to start this hobby over again after a (almost) 20 year gap. I am a lucky guy, too!
That's awesome Tred! Ex-wife number hated my trains. Current fiance loves them and is more addicted to railfanning than I am!!
You are very lucky! My current wife is all for my train thing and I'm also starting again after many years (30ish)!
Nothing hotter than a good woman that loves (or at least likes) trains. I had the same experience as Benjaminrogers, ex actually got me started in trains (wanted one for the Christmas tree but expected me to only be interested in running it around the tree for a few weeks) and then was sorry she ever got me started. Current fiance loves them and actively encourages me to spend more time pursuing hobbies and railfanning. She loves baking for the club when they come over and even GOES to the shows. Can it get any better?
I just realized something. How the heck am I going to turn an engine on the 'inner' track that leads from the Roundhouse. Any thoughts?
Yes. Lucky, indeed! My wife also likes trains enough to tolerate me. My wife was my crew chief in both drag and powerboat racing. Which pays off some now that my health is a mess, as she knows enough to make minor repairs and do maintenance chores on our vehicles.
