Sometimes people do have good reason for a desire to own R-T-R. They actually do not have the free time. For example, during 1999-2001, I was steadily working well over 100 hours a week! I wanted to see some progress. But had little time available for the hobby. (Didn't have a lot of energy for fun stuff left over either!) R-T-R allowed me to see that things were moving forward. Now that I once again have more free time, I am back to doing it the way I enjoy the most. Boxcab E50
I for one wish that Roundhouse would go back to the kits. There was nothing to the assembly of the great cars they put out. Like someone else mentioned, if your changing out the trucks for M/T's half the work is already done for you with the kit. I think a lot of people just never took the time to realize that these kits are too easy.
