I need help choosing one of 3 regions to model on my completely torn down and being rebuilt layout This is n scale will have rivers, bridges, mountains, lineside business, coal, intermodal, grain, auto traffic, etc etc Set in the fall of 1979 Vote away Eastern Southern Mid Atlantic West Midwest
I am biased, of course, due to the area where I have spent almost all of my life. Do you already have any motive power or rolling stock on hand, which might influence a decision?
Little of everything emd ge Alco Lumber yard Coal mines to combine Wooden grain structures Basically can be anywhere
If you model the BN it would only be about 11 years after the merger which formed BN. Consists were found with locos still in original paint still with just a patch applied. Thus you could run locos in BN, NP, GN, SP&S, and CB&Q. The same goes for freight cars. And with interchange traffic the occasional CP lash up.
Working it out now will be starting a redux of the WNW Wichita Northwestern a real railroad that went defunct in June 1941 when the last rail was pulled up But in my alternate reality it's a strong major class one that survived and my modeling period will be the fall of 1979 And WW2 is what helped it expand sending freight to all ports for the effort
