...and probably the last! I picked up a MT set cheap and decided to custom paint the loco and some freight cars in Maine Central colors. I needed to remove the second headlight on the loco. Photos of the complete set to follow. I gotta' get back to N scale. This stuff is way too small for me! CG
Wow looks great! I will have to fill the lower headlight on mine too. What did you use for Z scale decals?
CG, excellent paint job. Dont give up. Its only hard the first time. After a while your fingers get more nimble, and your eyes will get use to seeing microscopic items. Then, n scale will look too big.
really nice job. first time? who'd believe it. think of it this way ... z is only 1/4 small than N. or ... z scale is 3/4 the size of n scale. it's not all that much smaller. for the benefit of all, which decal set did you use -- it looks very nice. dave f.
Wow! We should all be so fortunate to have our first try turn out this well. It looks great from this angle. I can't imagine why you'd stop with just one!!!
Thanks for the kind words. This was my first Z paint job, but I have been painting N and HO for years. The decals are from a variety of Microscale N scale decals. Primarily B&M RS3 decals and MEC Green Boxcar decals. I also used MEC F3 and the "Maine Central" on the side came from the MEC caboose set. This same combination would do a nice MEC green GP7 that I hear are coming out. CG
It looks Great C.G.! I think you should try your hand at more Z Scale projects. We need more talent like yours in Z Scale! -Robert
Very Nice! I can hardly wait to see the rest of the re-paints. My fiance is from Maine. She has lots of family there who date back way before the statue of Liberty was in place. I've been collecting Maine Railroad items here and there so this project of yours is of interest. Great Job! Tim
Excellent job. Beautiful. I've been wanting to remove the second headlight from all of my Pennsys, too. But I don't know if I am up to a full repaint on all of my green locos. MTs old Pennsy Engine Green is not close to any color on the market (or to Dark Engine Green for that matter).
Thanks for all the kind words guys. Your positive comments do credit to your scale. I have posted the finished pics under a new heading. Clint
Clint, Great job! By the way, I do have a sheet of decals on our web site that includes the Main Central F7 decals. You will need to print it out on decal paper. The page is: http://www.ztrack.com/mainpgs/articles.html Download the PDF of the decal sheet. The sheet also includes decals for the Boston and Maine, New Jersey Central, B&O, PRR and others. The sheet came from Ztrack subscriber Paul Hermonat. Rob Kluz
