Hi Guys, Wanted to share the first shots of our all new 40' Z box without roofwalks and tall ladders. Included in this scan is the new Youngstown Door that I believe will premier on a regular 40' soon. Not sure of the release date yet, more later. Some might think this not as glam as some other body styles, but an important piece to the puzzle no less. Cheers Joe MTL
Fantastic new product, now you need to make a high cube version like in N scale. How about making a DT&I for the one of the first releases? Allan Borg
Awesome!! That version looks great!!! A very long awaited 40' modern version Boxcar!!! Thanks for sharing this with us Joe!!!! Look forward to its release!!!! Hobo Tim
Way too modern for me, didn't cars without roof walks start showing up around 1970-72? But I am very happy about the new door! and that it will find it's way to the regular 40 footer when needed to match the prototype. When will I be able to order about 30 sets of these doors? http://picasaweb.google.com/ErieChris333/ProtoPhotos/photo#5082704219656455522 I believe they just stopped making boxcar doors there about 5 years ago when the whole place was sold to another car parts builder. I have an old back issue on order showing how to model a load of doors being shipped in a gondola. See Youngstown Steel Door was on an isolated dead end branch of the Erie Railroad... They also built many other car parts like whole sides: http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/773/ERIEdoor.jpg
Joe, Another great release! I can't wait! If the DT&I ran these, you bet I would love to see one released! Jurg, I think you need more interchange service on your railroad. LOL! Rob
Doors I suspect they will be available once they show up on a Z 40' Box car. I think that should be very soon, but will have to check. I can check into it and let you know stock numbers and $$$ Joe
You say... Tall Ladders on the ends? This is a perfect candidate for etched steel roofwalks! This is great news Joe!
You can see in the photos that it has half height ladders on the ends also. I for get now, has BLMA done their ladders in Z yet? If so, then it won't be too hard to make transition era cars out of these.
