I heard they were coming out with a Decapod too. I could be wrong tho. I'll have to keep an eye out for it, as I've been rather impressed by the Consolidation. Some minor issues, such as the impossibility to convert the pilot to a MT coupler.
Jon My earlier post on the new 2-8-0 had a link to the N Scale Supply website http://www.nscalesupply.com/BAC/BAC-2-8-0.html Near the bottom of the page, they show a straightforward MT conversion for the pilot using an MT1015 coupler mounted in an MT2004 coupler pocket. Check it out............ eNjoy
Thanks! That looks interesting... I had looked at how narrow the coupler slot was and figured too much detail would have to be removed to make it work properly. I did manage to figure out the tender. The local hobby shop said they'd heard a 1015 would work, but I tried it, and it came out way too low, so I picked up some 2004s I had laying around here, and it bolted right on at the right height.
I think I'm going to lose this chat board, it is too convaluted to figure out. I just wanted to reply to someone about a problem they had mounting MT couplers on the new Bachmann 2-8-0 but I couldn't figure out how to contact them. I'm a modeler not a Computer geek. If any body out there gets this I have just finished mounting an MT coupler on my 2-8-0 tender and pilot. I didn't have any 2004's so I used a short box and shank 2001. I also diccovered that I could have used used a 1015 on the tender as well, but to get the proper coupler height with both of these you have to shave off the square lump on the bottom of the tender that the Rapido coupler box sat on. I mounted a 2001 in the pilot of the 2-8-0 as well with a bit of cutting, filing and swearing. I did not lose any detail from the pilot or fingers doing so and the coupler box slides nicely into the slot I made and under the pilot deck. If you really want to bury the coupler box in under the pilot deck, a brave soul could shave a little plastic off the front end of the pilot truck housing that holds the pilot truck axle. Both installations, pilot and tender, match perfectly with the MT coupler gauge.
