The local MRL unit train comprising of empty box cars and loaded log cars are one route to the lumber yard in Oregon. I captured the train on the Cheyenne division. 1. MRL 01 Unit train departs classification yard for mainline. 2. I caught several shots of the train passing over the girder bridge that crosses the mainline and main road. 3. MRL01 passes the AMTRAK Oregon to Chicago special. 4. MRL01 approaches the classification yard after delivering it's consist. Hope you enjoyed my train outing today it was a lot of fun and great weather
Mike, Yes you are correct it is a NEC P42 but at the time that was all that was available lol so I've taken some modelling licence. Jason, The signals are scrathbuilt by myself using brass tubing and 2mm LEDS purchased from Wagner electronics. Ken, The logs are cut down branches from my peppermint tree in my front yard, I also walked the street looking for similar size branches
I hope you took it as a compliment then, when I asked what brand sig's.They are very well done Paul! BTW would you be interested in making about 80 more for a good cause??????lol. How much?????
hanks Jason these are quite easy to make and would be a good project for the club. I have an article that I may be able to send to you?
Paul- lovely pictures. Great camera! (Which of course is like telling a great chef he must be using great pots and pans ) I would also be VERY interested in the article on the crossing signals. Instead of the lengthy and formal publishing process for print, why don't we open a "how-to" forum, where people can post articles (as opposed to 5-line posts), complete with multiple pictures? I know this kind of information is scattered around the Board, but would it be feasible to open a "how-to magazine" section? Moderated? William
Great idea,I may have to pay you a visit or vice-versa & talk turkey about those DRGW hoppers as well.......!!!!!?????
William thanks for the comments, We already have a forum for articles and how to? It's known as the inspection pit. Jason, Email me and we can discuss a time and day for you to visit the layout and run some of your gear.
Of those I see pictured, they give an excellent appearance. As if really covered with bark. Hmmm. Better save any extra pruned branches! You could package and sell a few. Raise funds for the empire. If the business took off, your neighbors might need to guard their shrubs! Boxcab E50
I should have said tree bark. Oh well. Much better than the scribed dowels I've often seen used. Boxcab E50
Truly fun! Everytime I see great picks I can only think of one thing: Man I gotta get some more turnouts and get back to laying track!
