I have been working on my 15 degree Timesaver switching contest module. Here are a couple updated photo's. This shot kind of shows the overall trackwork for the switching puzzle: This is the Left side of the module. I installed a BLMA N Scale cell phone tower in the back, and put one of the Make My Model trailers next to it. There is also models from Dan Stirpe, Tim Buehring, Kim Vellore, and Nansen Street in this shot. Trees are a mix of Loren Snyders and Architrees: I got my roads in, and painted them with Woodland Scenics Asphalt, then rubbed dirt on with my finger. I scratchbuilt the grain elevators to the right of Tim's fantastic elevator. Boy am I lucky I jumped when i did, as Tim's elevator is so sweet! This is the right side of the module. I have one of the test fit samples of Nansen Street's Despatch Junction freight station, and one of my yard shops up front, and I am playing with the positioning of the Faller tank farm parts behind. I am undecided on the layout of the tanks, but I know I want to use them there. I still need to make the grade crossing parts for between the tracks, then I can polish the rails, and start adding vehicles, people, and details:
Excellent job Robert. Currently, I only have a small layout, but I like your idea of a switching module. Maybe it's something I might want to do, or it's going to be two end module. it's probably going to be finish right after Randy's many projects.
Now that the ballast is down and I salvaged a bunch of scraps from Rob's drafts of the upcoming Nansen Street Despatch Station (thanks Joe Bartolotto ) I can present my updated 3x4 End module featuring a coal mine, future toxic wast dump, possible cement factory and the Nansen Street Despatch Station. This is the track and road work featuring Peter Wright turnouts and plaster based roads: A new mine view with the ballasted track: And the upcoming Nansen Street Despatch Station: See more at:
Very nice work guys. It's getting me inspired to start up on some of my delayed projects again. (And John, I see Bryan now has you picking on me too ;-) . Jeff, are the wood grade crossings laser cut? I like them. I think I'm going to have to go back and try painting my roads a different color. Randy
Wow, awesome! Thank you very much for sharing this pictures. Trainboard is the best! BTW, Robert the Big Red is still one of the most beautiful Barns I've ever saw.
