now that I am living in germany, I am starting to install decoders in some of my european stuff, starting with one of my favorite locomotives: (Image borrowed from http://ralfvolmer.ra.funpic.de) Minitrix No 12633, Bought here in germany in 1999. the Instructions list SELECTRIX no 66830 as the plug and play Decoder for it, but I have no idea if the Selectrix decoders are compatable with the modern DCC/Digitrax systems. so anyone have any one know if it'll work, or am I goting to have to adapt a modern decoder?
Delamaize, in short: They are not compatible. See here for more info: http://www.xs4all.nl/~raicho/model/control/dcc.htm The 66830 is one of three standard selectrix decoders, and it is tiny. Here is a link to the size description... http://www.mttm.de/Seiten/66830.htm There are newer decoders on the market that allow a loco to operate on both, DCC and Selectrix. Have a look at attached list: All Decoders with the Footnotes S), MS) or ms) are compatible with both systems: http://www.dcc-mueller.de/decoder/dectab_e.htm#feat I hope that helps Dirk
