    Guys

I'd like your input on purchasing some type of mini-vac for my layout. Something strong enough to pick up dust from tops of buildings, train cars even scenery, but not suck up every detail in sight! Your thoughts please?

Use a shop vac but get a piece of old panty hose to cover the opening. This will keep it from eating every detail and reduce some of the vacuum. Use a soft bristled brush on the hard surfaces to loosen up the particles and adjust your distance back and forth of the vacuum to find the just right amount of suck

I use a set of small diameter attachments that come with a hose adapter - this adapter fits into my shop vac hose. The attachments include a small brush and a crevice tool. I probably got them from Micro-Mark. Using a nylon stocking as a filter is also a good idea.

Absolutely. Without this the possibility of picking up something you'd not wish to, or doing some damage, is almost certain.

I have the same or similar system. I recall I got it in the toy department in K-Mart.
