Gerhard Hannemann from Germany build that Westmodel Milwaukee Hudson 4-6-4 for me. It's a very nice addition to my Collection. To bad that just a few Steamlocomotives are available for us.
Jurg, That is a great locomotive! Do you know if it uses a Marklin chassis? If I could swap out the x-6-x for a x-8-x and remove a pilot wheel it would look very close to an Erie Berkshire: (N scale) If I can just buy the shell and tender... hmmmmm got me thinking.
Criss, you help me find a lot of information, so I am glad that I can return the favor. http://www.aspenmodel.com/index_am.php?l=ijllm
Thanks John! Looks like about $300 for a kit and a Marklin loco, but man I would much rather run steam on the layout.
Jurg, Does the Aspen model kit come with a 2 axle trailing truck or do you have to make it up yourself? Loren
Chris, When you're talking Berkshire, you're talking my kind of language! I think the Berkshire is the prettiest steamer around. Boy, would I love to be rich and be able to open a factory to produce US steam locos. Loren
Jürg Thanks for reminding me. My order's in. Hope they still have them. String or two of those future release MTL smooth sides . . .
Jurg that is one fantastic looking steamer! I had to look twice to notice the chasis was Marklin. Very fine. Chris I'd sure like to see you make a Berk! Because I know the rule of model trains is if someone makes one themselves, then it will be mass produced right afterwards!
Milwaukee Road fans everywhere are turning over in or going to their graves.... The 4-6-4 pictured on the Milwaukee was a Baltic, not a Hudson!!! In fact, the Milwaukee had the 4-6-4 on the drawing boards before the NYC but didn't have the $$$ to order them.... so the naming rights went to the NYC and they honored their Water Level Route river. Most sources will show the 2-6-4 as the "Baltic" (a type limited in North America to some Phiadelphia & Reading tank engines and a few other oddballs...and about a zillion Lionel locos) but on the CMStP&P it were a 4-6-4... at least the unstreamlined ones were. The F7 Hiawatha 4-6-4s that came later and were refered to as Hudsons in deference to the (by then) common usage. Charlie Vlk

John, Thanks (again!) I think the mail I sent them was through their website and might not have been a real "E-mail"
John, you mean Chris. I already had mine. Lyn said she only had one left (2 weeks ago) and was checking with Germany. Aspen USA (Colorado) does not stock a lot. Large orders or addtional stock have to come from Germany.
