Does anyone have experience with the Micro Ace mogul that Mokei imports and has been advertising for a few months? I know it models JNR, but even with the 6-wheel tender, it's got possibilities - if it runs well. If you have or have seen this, does it have all-wheel tender pickup? Opportunity to mount a KD on the front as well as the tender? While we wait for MP to get back to us (or not) on availability of a 2nd version mogul (with all-wheel tender pickup), does anyone else have a super-running mogul with KDs front and rear for good switching? Scott
All the Micro-Ace steamers I have bought nave run well. As good as Kato, if not better. I can't remember the exact pick up on the tender but am thinking that at least two of the axles had pick up. I do not use the six wheel tenders. I replace then with a older US style tender from one of my older steamers and then use the trucks from a Kato caboose for all wheel pick up. For the body Shell I use something like a old Minitrix 0-6-0. Below is a Kato 2-6-0 mechanism done as described above. The M-A loco could be used just as easily.
Moguls Yes, Athearn does. It was just announced that Athearn will reissue the old MDC Roundhouse Mogul with Accumates front and rear. If you can add MTL's yourself, save a bunch of money and buy an MDC Mogul from Trainland - on sale for $50. :shade:
