Is anybody experienced with Mehano engines? Please post your references. I've found this one on eBay and Utube - http://www.ebay.com/itm/HO-Steam-Lo...037?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e9d0ade35 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIiQr6XTjSs
Well mehanos are quite reliable engines and this one has after market sound and nice lighting features,so I would say that's a fair price considering the cost of the decoder and what it would cost to install it.
Same guy, same engine, different road name: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HO-Steam-Lo...831?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e9cfccfbf MULTIPLE Mehano 4-8-2's on evilbait. At least seller specifies add-on parts installed. Usually, air pumps, back up light, number boards, turbo generator and a whole lot of little stuff comes in a baggie...and if it's gone..you're in trouble. BTDT. Dave
They seem to run well. Far better designed and put together than some outfits whose name starts with a "B". I consider them "interim". Not as bullet proof maybe as the 60's and older die cast (often kit) locos, FAR better than the current crop of cr...well, you get the idea. Pricing even NOS (new, old stock) is far, far better than the current PRC stuff whose philosophy seems to be based upon British Motorcycles...you need three, one running, one repairing, one waiting parts. I have a new one, tested with leads only, an IHC Mehano GN M-620 Mountain, no decoders or sound. I got it relatively reasonably priced because some as.....yay-who poked a hole in the end of the plastic cover and stole the parts bag. I found the one place that has the parts, got them, installed them, trimmed the styrofoam out to clear. And the parts were not cheap. Dave
