What is the unit in the middle? I have been wondering: is the unit in the middle an SD45? It looks like it to me, but I can't be sure, maybe I need my eyes checked. I love SD45s, and I did not think the BNSF had any more.
Ya, I keep staring at that pic too, but I think it's just an odd angle, and the radiator grills are -2 type.
I had time to do some home work Take another look I added the engine numbers Oops sorry I should have done that first time:tb-wacky: Per this web site both are C40-8W ex ATSF
campp waking up from his nap: Ooh, I'm not sure right now, that is an older picture. I can't quite read the number, but I'll check my print and see what it is. What was weird about that deal, was I saw that train go by me, and 20 minutes later it went by in the other direction. They must have turned it on a Y that I do not know about (might be on the nearby armory, which I cannot visit of course). I just thought it was a great day for SD40-2s and Cub Scouts. Only at home did I discover I photo'd the same consist twice! :tb-tongue:
Well, I guess I don't need glasses, after all. That's probably just as well, since I have not seen an eye doctor in a while.
Location?? Hey Camp, is this at Belmont near the army depot? When I was a kid my father was chief of security there so I've spent a fair amount of time on that base.
John, that shot is at the Divide. My second favorite railfan spot. Bellemont is what, a few miles west or so. I suspect the armory is where that Y might be hiding.
Just off the BNSF main is the wye. The Google map does not show the siding connects at both ends, but it does. I' pretty sure it's still double track main through there.
Three ex-CN GP40s, two wide-nose, one regular. Albany, GA How about two Helm Leasing SD45-2s (and both ex-CSX, to boot)? Denison, TX, March 24, 2007 And a couple of SD50s
