I am seeing a lot of different paint colors in Floquil and Polyscale that are SOMETHING like the various Pennsylvania passenger cars that I have, which don't match each other, either.

I would appreciate whatever experiences you folks can pass on to me about what paint numbers from the different manufacturers come closest to matching which ready-to-run car manufacturers' paint jobs. I have some old Bachmann "65' Shorty" passenger cars and a Microtrains RPO that are clearly different. And, a visit to my local hobby store came up with quite a variety of "Tuscan Red", "PRR Tuscan Red", and "Tuscan" colors that seem to indicate that there are a lot of potential combinations to try. So, learning from others seems like the best place to start. Thanks for whatever you can pass on to me.

The closes to true PRR Tuscan red would of been Floquil or Poly-S box car say the people on the PRR yahoo groups. Don't know now, PRRTh&S is most likely researching for a replaces now.

I remember reading in Model Railroader some 40 years ago that the way to match PRR Brunswick Green was one part dark Pullman green and 20,000 parts black!

Try looking at Tru-Color paints. They match the prototype colors pretty darn well.

The Pollyscale color is a nice match-I was able to score 3 bottles after the announcement of its discontinuance.
I've also read, on the Pennsy forums, about the use of boxcar red; seems perfectly reasonable for an 'in-service' car
