In the 2015 new items Märklin announced item 88626, a powered Union Pacific E8B in a project with AZL. http://www.maerklin.com/en/service/...lin.com/en/service/search/product_search.html
Its Marklin. If its in the 2014 catalog look for it in spring/summer of 2015. I wouldn't count on seeing that B unit until early 2016. I know they went through a rough time but it sucks waiting for more than a year for a model they say will be out in 2014. But at least its not another F7
Dave, Since Marklin is doing these with AZL, I'm a little more optimistic. I figure Marklin will be shipping about 3 months after AZL gets their units so they aren't too far behind their schedule. BTW besides the UP E8B, Marklin added a PRR A unit for 2015. Ah, I remember the days when the highlight of the Z year was the announcement of what color Marklin would paint the "F7" for the upcoming year. Mark
i know its Marklin, my spell checker keeps changing it. It is listed in the new items online, but still Marklin is slow with getting items out. I thought the PRR unit was scheduled for December 2014, released In the Autumn new items??
I ment it is a marklin problem. wasn't trying to correcting your spelling. I know what you ment sorry for the misunderstanding. Funny I bought the new turntable and add on kit. got the add on kit a month ago, still no turntable.
I have just been checking the Marklin new items list http://www.maerklin.com/en/products/gauge_z/new_items.html and this item seems to have disappeared. I saw it there a few days ago and was going to take a print out of the details. Neither is it in the Marklin products database. Very strange! Rob Pearce (aka Viper Bugloss)
Delivery dates seem to slip often enough; the curious may want to check http://www.maerklin.com/en/products/tools_downloads/deliverydates.html Awww..the E8B disappearing is bummer. The link I first posted now shows nothing. I learned about the E8B from the iOS Märklin catalog application. The top of the item looks like: The rest of the text is: Gauge Z Era III-V Model The locomotive is completely new tooling. It has a new powerful motor. 2 axles powered on each truck. Traction tires for high pulling power. The locomotive is finely detailed and has extensive, prototypical paintwork and lettering. It also has the Märklin system coupler front and rear. The road number is xxx. Length approximately 96 mm / 3-3/4". 88626 can be added to 88627 for double the pulling power. Antetype General Motors EMD class E8B six-axle B unit painted and lettered for the Union Pacific Railroad. Auxiliary information This model is a cooperative project with the firm AZL. (No doubt copyrighted by Märklin, etc., etc. I am not affiliated with Märklin, etc. etc.)
Hi I have 2 questions about the new models E8. You now, my favorite RR is UP (I´don´t now wy) Can I get the UP E8 A/B directly from AZL with Kadee couplers? Or must I change it at the M-Model? what about the Decoder, Can I use the same Decoders as for the SD79, GP38 ...?
The basic difference between Marklin E8 A/B and AZL E8 A/B is the coupler. If you want AZL/MTL/Kadee style couplers, buy the AZL model. If you want Marklin couplers, buy the Marklin model. And yes, the E8 will use the same decoder as the GP30, GP38-2, SD70, GP7, and everything else we can possibly make in the future that can accept that size decoder (Includes upcoming F3 and SD45) Best, -Rob(A) AZL
This item has now reappeared in the Marklin New Items Catalogue for Summer 2015 . http://mediencms.maerklin.de/media.php/com/pdfs/Maerklin_Sommer-NH-2015_EN.pdf Number 88626 on catalogue page 26. As the A units, which were announced at the beginning of 2014, are not yet available, the actual delivery date of the B unit is probably over a year away. Rob Pearce (aka ViperBugloss)
Good news Rob: your assumption is highly logical, but incorrect. The "B" units are in production now. Best, -Rob(A) AZL
