Lyudinovo finalises Cuban locomotive design

    Written by: Erwin Reidinger Representatives from Cuban Union Railways (UFC) and Lyudinovo Locomotive Works (LTZ), Russia together with other suppliers within the Sinara group have begun to finalize the specifications for a new fleet of diesel-hydraulic locomotives ordered by UFC earlier this year. Cuban import agency Tradex signed a contract with Sinara for 60 type TGM8KM and 15 TGM4 locomotives in July 2016 in a deal which also includes the rehabilitation of UFC’s José Casamayor works in Havana.
    The first TGM8KM will be delivered to Cuba in May 2017 and a further 14 units will be shipped in September and November 2017.
    A large batch of spare parts for the existing Cuban fleet of TGM locomotives will be delivered in November 2017.
