I found the Southern plug door I was looking for a while back, was wondering if anyone in Z land has a P&LE boxcar they would like to part with? It is #500-00-050 NYC/P&LE Was #14105. I'll take it with either couplers. About 8-9 miles from me in Youngstown, OH was where the NYC turned into the P&LE (both owned by the same people) It is also where the Erie RR interchanged with the P&LE to get Erie passenger trains to Pittsburgh. Erie and P&LE also shared a freight house here. Youngstown is where P&LE large Gateway hump yard was located. All of that is a big open space now, but the buildings remain: In better times: http://www.plerrhs.org/images/prototype/ple_62086_jpc.jpg Guess the short story is to just say I want this boxcar
I checked inventory and we don't have any of those left...I have a few other bunny holes around here to check out though. Will keep you posted Joe MTL
Hey Joe, If you should find something from Lehigh Valley, dont throw away :teeth: its my favourite US-Line
Chris, I love those cars. I actually used them in the cover photo of the Jan/Feb issue of Ztrack. I believe MTL released two different roadnumbers. The cars I have are roadnumber 20375 and 25516. Rumor has it that you may see a new P&LE set this December. Rob
Chris, I have a spare of 20375 I'd be willing to part with. The box is a bit beat, but the car is pristine and has MTL couplers. I also have one of the 50' single doors (old pn 13507-2), but I believe that it is way past your era. I think the "rebuilt" date on it is 10/65. Anyway, contact me off list (my aol account) if you are interested. Dan S.
P&LE boxcar rumor... thought the birdie said it was a modern rib side What about another Erie box in N scale, but no Z? Jeff, I was born in Youngstown, lived in Hubbard, Niles, and now Warren.
