This is the start of the install of an ESU 58923 LokSound 5 Nano NMRA DCC Sound Decoder in a N Scale Atlas GP7 (or GP9). I used a 9 x 16 speaker with an enclosure I designed and printed. The Atlas is the second version of the GP7/9 that Atlas did called the Phase II where they corrected the screwed up wheel base of the first version. It is the version before the 2000 versions that are DCC ready and has the two smaller light-boards.

This was my second hardwired sound install and it wasn't easy. I used my mill as you need every bit of space you can make with one to get the decoder and speaker and associated wiring under the narrow hood short GP7. I spent most of a day on it and finished the lights the next morning. Made a number of dumb mistakes but didn't ruin anything major other than 2 LED's. Hopefully I can do the second one I need in 3-4 hours or maybe less if I'm lucky. I'll probably do it tomorrow while this install is still fresh in my head.

I'll also get more pictures and info up on my site and here soon. For now though I'm posting a video and you will just have to picture that there is no space under that shell that isn't full of decoder, speaker or wiring.

Oh, I just remembered that I didn't put the fuel tank back on. Imagine that also since I'm not shooting another video ;)

Thanks goes out to 'woodone' for his long distance help,
