loco works, but lights/sounds (functions) don't operate?

I got a weird one. I was able to do this with two different locos... the locomotive throttle itself works, forward and reverse, however none of the functions work.

I'm using JMRI via serial, I'm downloading the Processing IDE to try out the serial controller now.

update: the DCC++ controller layout thing does the same thing... I get movement control but no functions (can't control the headlight).

 

I self-resolved this one. I swapped in a fresh Uno and used Gregg's original build, and all is now well.

I still couldn't get Mr. Atani's code to work on an Uno.

 

We will sort out the Uno code, it is very likely something very simple to resolve.
