What type of things have the members been up to? Lets here some of the modelings everyones done! Wether it be painting, collecting, buying, repairing, layout construction, running, whatever.... Whats everyone done?

I'll be the first to start it off....

I got into making a addition to my MOW train. A 3 tanker weed sprayer for under growth control. Got two tankers painted and decaled of the 3, and scratchbuilt the Nalco weed sprayer. Its built, but unpainted, and have one more tank car to disassemble and paint/decal to complete it and then super detail the entire 4 car set. and then get all 4 on the MOW roster.

Got into a EL-5 customization. Which I posted a sort of like poll for... (BTW, 7160 the cab number will be! :D ) Got it painted, waiting for numbers and lettering....

Working on putting together a A-B-B-A set of E-8's for the B&O passenger set I'm going to custom paint, and letter.

And in a day or 2, I will have completed a older Mantua 4-6-0 "Ten Wheeler" to be a B&O class B-30. Cab number 1366, EX. Ohio River R.R. cab number 20.

Will post pictures as I can, for my digital camera isn't the greatest, and tries to grow a brain of its own!

So, what projects everyone else have to add??? Pictures as well as descriptions welcom!!!!!!!!!

    No pics, but some descriptions:

    In HO:

Painted two diesel switchers blue & yellow- a Bachmann Spectrum 70-tonner and a used Athearn Baldwin S12. Both are lettered JDT for Joplin District Terminal, a layout named after my youngest son (James Daniel Thompson, initials JDT). Since my middle boy's name is Matthew Kyle Thompson and he has 2 railroads named for him MKT and Kyle), I felt James needed one, albeit fictitious [IMG]

I've started putting Kadee number 58 couplers on all new HO cars, as well as swapping out plastic wheels for metal wheels (P2K and Reboxx are the products of choice). I would like to completely get rid of plastic wheels, but since that'll take a while, I'm in no hurry. And I'll keep Kadee 5s on current cars, but all new & repaired cars get 58s.

    In N scale:

Painted & decaled my two LL GP20s for the Paris & Mt. Pleasant. Think MP dark blue with white striping & lettering.....Also, one RSD4 is painted & decaled for PMP subsidiary Oklahoma, Red River & Texas- it's ornge with black lettering, same as the Kennecott diesels, and also beause my college alma mater's colors were orange & black (GO POKES!!)

I've also been swapping out trucks with Rapido couplers for M-T trucks & couplers, and thanks to the free package of Atlas lo-pro wheels; the M-T trucks are getting better wheels.

Sadly, I had to demolish the PMP pending an upcoming move to Texas, but it WILL rise again- I'll even have a place to run my HO stuff as well, ready & waiting for me (more details later) [IMG]

Unfortunately my layout has remaind dormant for far too long.
But, my summer projects have been chasing trains in real life.
You may have seen my photos or friend's photos who were with me at the time, already posted on TB.

Starting back a little before spring of this year, I've hit Cincinnati, Sand Patch, Little Ferry and Hoboken. I rode the first day of the Light Rail out of Hoboken on 9/29/02. Also rode the first #1 subway train through ground zero on 9/15/02 at 12:01 AM. Russ and I have done a NMRA show, the NY Connecting RR tour, and Danbury's wondeful RR museum with the wonderful host, Peirce.

Let the snows fall and I'll finish my layout. Having too much fun out in the sun. I'll be back in Ohio next week too!

    Good to hear guys!

Thinking of Bobs mentioning Kadee couplers, JT, that blue work train you seen durring the Sand Patch meet, it now is Kadee equipt from front to back! :D Finally! Now to get all metal wheels on all the cars and I'll have it made! Then to get my passenger set started and all. and get it in good running order.. I'll be Watash's age, and still converting! What a train collection under my house roof! :D

By the way John, I forgot about our trip on the Western Maryland steamer too!

Your worktrain is awesome! What was it? 14 cars? 17 cars?

    Yeah JT you did! [IMG]

Ummm the work train. I think it was 20 or 21 cars. But i'm not exactly sure.... Its actually 30 cars long. just a few cars were being repaired that weekend. So.... I didn't have the full train at the station!

By the next time you come to Meyersadle, it may grow another 10 cars or so. I know of 8 cars setting waiting to be detailed/custom painted, and all for it. That I haven't gotten around to getting my hands on yet!

Thinking of the Sand Patch meet... That little Rivarossi rebuilt 0-4-0 Dockside, you may want to get a brick and some how connect a coupler to it.. being the motor I had retro fitted to it is 10 times faster and 100 times more powerfull then the original! Couple the brick to it to slow it down! HA! And won't overheat. Its a moderate over powered can motor for that loco, but was the smallest motor I had at the time! :D
