Well after adding an extension to my layout I finally got the track just about where I want it. I still need to work on a few of the risers adjusting for the grade here and there but I'm happy with what I have so far. The layout is all 100 % Kato UNI-TRACK so check it out and let me know what you think so far.. Bill's layout in progress Thanks
Good looking layout Bill. I've been working on a layout using WS products also. Great job with the Uni-track.
Bill, I'm jealous... j/k I am going to start my layout soon, but don't think I'll design a trackplan, just lay it out as I go along and then my step-dad is going to take it to his office and have it drawn on AutoCad for my control panel and my website (http://www.internetmill.com/trains) Did you have a track plan or just "lay it out?" Good job so far and keep it up as well as keeping us up to date . Matt
Thanks guys..I mostly just "laid it out". I got my double track mainline in place then with the help of a good buddy of mine worked out the yard / staging and the other stuff. My same friend is getting out of n-scale due to his eyes can't take it any more. I purchased a lot of track , switches and stuff along with a bunch of rolling stock and yep a digi trax super chief DCC system from him.. when this gets "finished" it'll be a blast..
Your photos inspire me to want to do great things! Because of them, I'm finally able to start thinking in three dimensions when looking at my track plans. Your pictures are saved to my local PC. Great stuff!
Bill, The yard looks great you will be able to store some good length trains. just one word of warning you will have to be careful when reversing trains on the together curves on the inside track. Do you have a layout plan you can post?
Yeah that inside is pretty tight !! No track plan unfortunately, This was all laid out from the " Hey this looks like it'll work " plan.. Thanks to everyone...
Lookin' good. I can't wait until I get some track down on my layout so I can actually run some of the brand spankin' new locos and cars that have been sitting in their boxes for a year now.
I did this schematic on the benchwork to give everyone an idea of the size of the layout.. Not exactly too scale but close enough to give you an idea of the size.. [ 07. January 2004, 10:24: Message edited by: Colonel ]
well ok so what did I do wrong that the picture isn't showing??? [ 06. January 2004, 01:40: Message edited by: NS Fan ]
Great layout but those curves leading to the bridge on the upper level....aren't they a bit tight or short... I don't know, isn't possible to "ease" that curve a bit?
You mean the little bend that goes from the straight away to the bridge? It really isn't that tight. I have ran some long trains through there both ways without any problems, not yet anyway!! But hey thanks for checking it out..
Bill no I didntmean themainline but the inner curve of the first track in the yard. when you are reversing long trains back you may have difficulties in reversing without cars toppling over. As for posting pictures what you need to do is the following. 1. click on thumbnail to bring up picture. 2. Right click on picture then click on properties. 3. Copy URL - it should look like this http://www.railimages.com/albums/billmeiggs/aas.jpg 4. Paste back into image box in Trainboard.
Hey, That looks great.I'm jeolosy of that yard.My layout is 15x12x8,& I couldn't fit in a yard. .But I do have an area of businesses that has 7 switches,& a passenger station with 5 tracks & pass-thru.But I wanted a yard,& ran out of real estate.Mike
