A while back we had everryone posting how they were doing on their layouts. How's everyone doing??

I've broken ground on my new layout after several years of design work, as well as finishing off the basement. Dad gets to work on his toys after everyone else gets theirs, right? Put up the benchwork Saturday, and laying the plywood base. Have it all cut, just need to secure it to the benchwork. Pre-drilled all the benchwork for wiring. I'll be covering everything with butcher paper while I transfer the plan from paper to full-sized drawings, which I'll use as a template to cut the raised elevations.

This is an around-the-room layout (HO scale) in a 10 X 14' bedroom while avoiding a large closet on the longer wall. Still working on a name for the layout. Like the area up Weber Canyon (Utah) around by Croydon and Devil's Slide. Some rather spectacular scenery as well as challenging designing for the UP guys that punched the rails through!

    Mark,
My progress has been slow. I have a very promising design concept now. I am about to begin laying track on it soon.

I am filling in every place on the upper and lower levels that needs filling in, whether it be shrubs, ground cover, etc. I am painting and weathering supports for two bridges that will be slid under the bridge when dry.
I will then take the momentous step of pouring water. Then- final touch up and Golden Spike party, inviting only those who appreicate the time and effort put in and my total lack of knowledge and ability as of 16 months ago.

I'm working on figuring out what I want to do. I have a 3x5 basic layout now, and I'm not really happy with it. Its been benchwork, basic track, and un-tortoised switches for about 6 months now. (I do have "tortoise tunnel" built from all the little boxes tho).

Going to pick up a hollow core door (36" variety) tomorrow and see if I can find some inspiration somewhere on what to do with it. I'm hoping that having the door sitting somewhere will get me motivated to sit down and think of something that will allow me to have at least one or two mainlines, and some switching somewhere. Have looked at a ton of plans and layouts, but I am at a loss.
