Good tip on the MRC. I'm really interested in the Empire Builder, but I'm willing to hold off in order to get started. I've noticed that decoders are really starting to come down in price. Any tips on outside sources for N scale installation? I have a Kato Mike that I really don't feel like tearing up. Chris
I've got an MRC DCC Command 2000 with a decoder equipped HO loco if you are interested. No handheld walkaround controller with it, though. Ski
I have heard many reports of problems with Kato Mike's and decoders. And from atleast three different sources. One source is the guy who does installations for other people of decoders on N scale engines. He told me he did 5 installations of decoders in the K Mike and wasn't happy with any of them. When I posted this comment in the Atlas N forum, one person there challenged me, but researched it and discovered there were problems as well. What I would do is go the digitrax group (part of Yahoo.groups) and ask for help in getting the K Mike to work well with a decoder, print out the responses you get, then pass what you have onto whomever you use to install it.
