well after cleaning out the garage and moving the pile of stuff off the layout, I have commenced with getting it back in order. I got the benchwork up and the mainline ran with risers pinned in place. Not sure if this is what I want to keep or not? Check out the link I have here and let me know what you think if you would?
    Bill's layout construction !

    Thanks

Hi Bill. Welcome to Trainboard. I like your layout with all the multi-level tracks and double main line. Mine is also double main line and I love it...I have just block control. Do you have DCC or block control?

I plan on going DCC. I'm still planning the inside of the layout with some type of industry and a yard. Thanks for checking it out !

    Hey Bill,
I like your layout design. I am going to be starting my new layout since I moved into a new house, very soon. I will be going with a similar type of design, but in HO scale. Keep us updated with the progress of your layout!

I've been re-thinking my layout and I might get rid of the bridge over/around and under. It doesn't give me a lot of clearance and I'm wasting a lot of space at that end of the table with the circling track. Anybody agree or disagree? Also Is the double track mainline all around the layout a good idea or not?

    Thanks

    Bill

I like the track plan Bill. The over and under make it look really neat.Yours is the first I have seen from the start with Uni-track.I have quite a stash of Uni-track and you are really showing off some good points of using it and the Woodland scenics stuff together.I like it so far, Keep the updates comming.
One of the best things about Uni-track is you can just unsnap it and see where you want it to go next.Play around with it and see what you like.As far as the double main line thing.I like watching the trains meet on double main line. But if you are going to go DCC you can use sidings for the meets. The only thing I try to figure in is layout size and the length of trains you want to run.If the sidings are going to be big due to big trains go with double main line.If you want to run smaller trains and sidings won't take up much space go that way.It is your layout see what you like and go for it.....

Ed thanks for taking a look at what I have on the board so far. Yeah I like the over and under too but it takes a lot of space down at that end of the board. If I can squeeze in a yard and some industry down the other end then I'll keep it.

    Thanks again !

Personally, I like it. I'm no master track planner by any means, but your track plan looks like it could make for some interesting operations. You have the ability to let at least two trains run simultaneously while at the same time do some switching operations if you want to. That's kind of the same thing I'm shooting for in the layout I'm building right now (see layout pictures below). Lookin' good. [IMG]

Well looks like I might be expanding the layout a wee bit before I finalize the track plan. should be closer to 12 x 10 or 12 x 12 "L" shaped by the end of the week. This will give me some more room for industry and lower the track some to avoid double stacks from clipping the bottom of the bridge going under.
