I'm not very knowledgeable about BNSF and/or Santa Fe, but I think this is the last locomotive that was delivered in the Warbonnet scheme to Santa Fe before the merger. It was roaming Norfolk Southern lines in the summer of 2000 and is seen here heading north through Erlanger, KY (about 9 miles south of Cincinnati, OH).

Santa Fe received 51 SD75Ms in 1995 numbered 200-250. These were the last Santa Fe units delivered before the BNSF merger. Santa Fe #250 was renumbered to 8250.

There were 2 other Warbonnets after the above posts. The later SD75Is #ed 8251-8301. BNSFed but still in Warbonnet. Also the same with Dash 9 700s in Warbonnet. Don't know which of those 2 # series were the last ones time wise.

Forgot to mention that QStation has best info on BNSF.

Yes you are absolutely correct. This is the LAST unit, delivered to SANTA FE....BEFORE the BNSF Merger. [IMG]
