Hello friends, I recieved my Soundbox yesterday and love the sound already. As soon as I got this box running properly, I am planning to replace the built-in speaker by a aspeaker of more quality that I can connect to the line-out jack and place it somewehre on the layout. But I am still curious about the correct connection of the soundbox to my Z scale powerpack (Märklin and Rokuhan). As the Soundbox came from Japan without this big blue "DC Converter" (#24-842), I connected the box to a 12V 1A DC wall adapter. So far, so good. When connecting both plugs - track and "jump-plug", the sound will work as I toggle my controller, but the loco on the track won't move anymore. If I disconnect just the track plug and wire the track directly to my controller, the engine will move again. Something seems to happen to the track current inside the Soundbox. I know that Kato's Soundbox wasn't developed for Z Scale. But maybe someone here has made experiences and shares them with me. Any hints for correct wiring? Cheers from Germany, Lutz
Hi Lutz I know that Dave Dawes in England used one of these on his 'Lincoln' Milwaukee layout and it was very effective. He ran it at Zedex 2016 and it featured in Continental Modeller magazine and I think it was in Z-track magazine as well. He used to be on this forum so it might be worth going through the members list and PM him Must say I've been tempted to get one myself for Republic Steel Kev
Hello Kev, thank you for your answer! I will look out for Dave. I read about Republican Steel in the Ztrack Magazine, great work! Cheers, Lutz
