Just got back from a small train show down here in Fl. Kato actually had a table set up and was displaying some of their newest items. Included was a sampling of their rerelease of the SD40's with added pilot details (MU hoses). There was also some hints that a new four window cab for the 44-9's is in the works. The when on this is another question though as factory time for American prototype runs is limited.
Speaking of Kato SD40s...Kato has added pics and artwork of their upcoming SD40 release. No big surprises, but what is of interest to me are the late Flexicoil-C sideframes with high brake cylinders. I know I could use a set or two to retrofit a couple older units. Take a look at http://www.katousa.com/html/HO_SD40.htm
The handrails seem a bit thick still but other than that... I forgot about that big incident with the undecs... i must admit i just laughed when i read Kato's explanation. I wonder what the Algoma Central's paint scheme looks like anyway
DEAR GREAT G** WHY THE HECK CANT KATO DO A DAMN CHESSIE UNIT I think they only thing they have ever done in chessie is the NW2 Chessie owned 100 SD40s and KATO hasnt done them in eather run.

I still have that an MR ad for that first run showing a Chessie unit... not sure if they were B&O or C&O though... lol

I still see an occasional one at train shows. The one that I purchased is now painted as a straight B&O SD 40. IMO The Kato factory Chessie paint scheme on the model was not very good.
Intresting. I didn't know that for I have never seen one and was told they were never done. Must look closely at trainshows
