hi guys happy new year Will a kato sd40-2 run on 22 degree radius I know that the wireing in these is a bit stiffer than other kato models. I have 2 of these and have only run them on a club layout radius about 30. I know that they can be very picky. thanks for the help august
Yes, it will run on 18" per modelrailroader Aug 99 product review. Assume you are aware of the electrical problem on the copper contact strips. When handling/lifting, use both hands, extending down over the body graping the truck then lifting. Never lift by the body alone. Hi August. i own a few SD40-2 Katos and they do not like 18" radius. Sure they will go around on their own but when they are pulling the front truck can jump the track and some binding can occur. Most six axle units don't handle 18" radii very well, especially the longer engines. The 22" radius is better than the 18 and the locos should handle it.
Also my SD 40-2 has the problems described from Railery. The only six axle units that don't have problem are the SD 90/43 Kato, SD 60 Life Like and the SD 75 Athearn.
Thanks guys. I was planning on using 24inch radius and wanted to know if they would be comfortable on something smaller just in case I needed too.
