Under their Kobo line, Kato has announced some cool custom locos. The price is hard to swallow at $185 per locomotive. (Locos will be painted for Rio Grande's Ski Train, CSX & Tri-Rail) I'm interested in in the Ski Train but the disclaimer on the Kato website scares me a little. "Due to the hand-made nature of this item, some minor blemishes and differences may be present from model to model" Anyone have any advice or experiences with the Kobo customs?
That's very cool! It would be much more tempting if there were a matching set of passenger cars for the Ski Train. The $185 is steep but decent with a discount from MSRP. Might be somewhere around $140. http://katousa.com/Zcart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=157
I have the Kobo P42 "Turn of the Century" loco and it looks really good! Having had that positive experience, I also ordered the Kobo New Mexico Railrunner engine. Chris
