Anyone ever installed a decoder in a KATO RDC. Would like to know if the decoder was a DZ143PS or the DN122K2. How terribly difficult was the installation, and any pitfalls to avoid.
Owen, Pitfalls Be sure when you take the RDC apart you understand how to put the copper contact strips back together the way they were. If you don't there will be some contact problems. I used the DN122K2, there were contact problems, but they were solved by taking a 3/8" dowel approx 1/2 " tall and placed it between the roof and the floor in the small plastic circles, this keeps the decoder in contact with the copper strips.
