So here I am, nearly steam-less, but with a gaggle of GP's and F's (including a nice hot-rodded toy from this past weekend's gr8 train expo!!). I bought a Kato Mikado (I love how that rhymes!) in pieces in that sale last couple months; it needs handrails, stanchions, and etc..... and some sand pipes and blah blah blah. It runs like a dreeeaaammmm..... I picked up a SUH-WEET spectrum tender for $13, it's a square-ish coaler with a ridiculous (and useless) DC board. Looks a lot like the proto tender they used. I'll be putting a TCS decoder in this tender, and likely SOUND, so how should I detail-out the nearly-bare shell? I know of the replacement cast boies and such, but I don't wanna break the bank. Oh, and big shocker here... it'll be NP. Any ideas guys? Pray59, I am sure you'll have some thoughts haha... and I still need to get that caboose kit from ya! Lemme know if there's a kit I can buy to just do it all in one fell swoop. I'm also not afraid of kitbashing, cutting, and the like....
You might want to consider the GHQ conversion kit as a guide for detailing. Individual parts are available at https://www.republiclocomotiveworks.com/shop.php
