I don't think EVERYONE here uses heavier materials. I just tend to overbuild things when I build them. This layout will definitely NOT be portable. It will be able to be moved (in two pieces) when the time comes for me to move, but in general it was designed to stay where it's at. I did build it in such a way though that one person can stand on each end of the layout and carry the main portion (the 7'x11' rectangle) without any flexing going on. That way when I DO have to move it then it won't mess anything up. The extension (4'x8' overall) was built separately and will be detached for the big move that I hope doesn't happen any time soon. ;)

Keep them pics coming- I won't holler unless the pics stop! [IMG]

Hoss, that benchwork looks good & solid. You don't happen to build or frame houses for a living, do you?

I would suggest that one of you who is camera active start a thread on Sunday's basically copying the Atlas Sunday Nite Foto Fun. Just so we don't copy it 100%, maybe call it "Strut Your Stuff Sundays" or something like that. I know West Coast Don was invited to run SNFF here but got sick and couldn't do it.

And once you have it up and running, go and cajol the HO guys to do the same thing.

I used to frame houses and do just about every other aspect of home building (except for electrical, plumbing or HVAC), but not any more. I'm in commercial construction now, but I'm kind of hoping to get into custom home building one of these days. I think that would be more enjoyable than sitting in a field trailer trying to keep subcontractors on schedule and under budget.

I think that's a GREAT idea....and if I had more than 2x4's to take pictures of I'd offer to help with getting it kicked off.
