Anyone out their that may have junked an old Athearn GP-7/9 ???? If anyone is familar with the kit from the Athearn Blue box line that was known for having an out of scale width hood, On its frame nearest to the fuel tank was 2 pieces that went on each side. I believe these were to represent air tanks that went from side to side! Well, if anyone knows these parts I'm speaking of, and have a few (at least 4) I'd be willing to pay for them if your willing to part with them!

I'm currently modeling a few chopped slugs that require these, minus a fuel tank, but has these air tanks! Or, if you may need some part or parts of some kind maybe we can do a horse trade.....TIA

Call Athearn John. Maybe they have them availble. Or make them out of half-round Plastruct.

    Warren,
I'm going to give Athearn a try and see what their cost is for 4 of them. BUT I think they will only sell 6 in a pack (which is good, as I'm going to need a few more then 4), but 4 right now would make me happy! As for making them from plastruct, I'd use tubing and cap the ends but I'm a detail freak and want all I can get! As what I'm needing them for is for on a Chessie System slug I'm making... Based from a AHM GP-18 high nose. that I had to omit the fuel tank and that also took the tank detail with it, and then that detail wasn't the greatest so... But I do have to replace the air tanks on the units frame....

Thinking of it..... Anyone have an Athearn GP-7/9 instruction sheet ?? I need the part numbers for these tanks! I think they used the one tank for both sides, but I might be wrong and Athearn did a left and right side for the castings being they are put on as 2 separate pieces.... Anyone have the part numbers for these???? That would also help a bunch as I don't have no instruction sheets on the 3 GP-7/9's I have. I was young and never saved them for future references...

    John,

I will scan the parts sheet sometime this week and get it emailed to you. If all else fails I can always send it to you by snail mail. But I will try scanning it first.

    Hope it helps,

    Shannon :D

Walthers lists the air tanks as #140-10536 (6 for $2.75).
