This issue has the beginning series for an On3/On21/2 layout with tips right out of the gate (by George Sebastian-Coleman, Pp 37-41). I was blown away by the fact that this is essentially my C & S railroad ;) . The track plan differs (his is much smaller than what we plan), BUT his use of foam insulation is exactly the same as what we are using and many of his tips on wheelset conversion we have also been doing already. He also answers a question in another thread here: adding a decoder to the Bachmann 0-4-0 tank.

Additionally, the article by Alexander Zelkin (Pp 46-49) discusses construction of an S scale building from foam core board. I can't tell you how excited I was to see this as we are currently constructing our first building (a "stone" roundhouse) from this material. I had no idea that other folk considered this a "real and acceptable" building material (there was an article at the end of last-month's MR that described "mock up" buildings using foam core board.

It is always heartening to read about techniques you are already employing...sort of makes you feel like you might be on the right track!!

I've heard there was an article forthcoming. Have not yet seen this issue. A trip to the hobby shop?

Well worth the trip!! After reading them, my nine year old said "Geez Dad, why aren't YOU writing these articles?" (I just chuckled ;) ).
