    Hello all,
starting to replace ties at rail-joiner feeds on my Atlas Code 55 track in preparation of painting and was curious if these types of details were available in N scale...
I'd like to add these to my track before painting....these would really add to the appearance of the track...

In N scale, I don't think so. Angle bar details are made in HO though. Best you can do is use some thin styrene stock cut about scale 2' and glued to the side if the rail.

There's a company specializing in Proto:87 that also makes N details, including, as I remember, rail joiners and tie plates. If you search proto87 I'm sure they'll be near the top...

I have a couple of frets of the Proto 87 Stores joint bars. They're designed for code 40, but will work okay with code 55. I think they'd look a little "lost" on anything taller than that.

They're flat enough so that you can use them on both inside and outside the rail without any interference.

Truthfully, they're so tiny that you'd have to use an airbrush to paint your rails so as not to bury them beneath a coat of paint.

I'm still pondering whether the effort is worth it to apply them or not. Should come to a decision pretty soon, then I'll post some photos if I decide "yes".

I was wondering this myself, but would love to see pics of this actually done to see for myself!

Bob, I do airbrush all my rail, and plan to do it here as well...in fact, I'd like to go a few steps further on this track detail than I've done in any past N scale modelling (Ntrak modules)...even with the small-ish aspirations of this layout, I'm finding it difficult to find time to REALLY make massive headway, so it's a bit here, and a bit there...

I appreciate all of ya'lls(?) help on this question....Proto87 certainly seems the only answer...the plates actually look good...with proper painting, and a nice little black wash, followed by a some light drybrushing...i think the plates will add to the track appearance....I would like to see pics of anyone's experience with these...
    Thanks,
    ~Bruce
