I won't bore you with the details, but I have started the track work which means, I solder feeders to track, then air brush the track, then lay AMI, then add the track to the AMI. I'm making each flex track its own block for future anticipated computer running. This means because I am ultimately lazy I am installing two sets of feeders from each track to the power bus. I don't want power problems latter on, so a little over kill now, will make my life happier latter on.

So today, I wired and painted my first flex track (Peco 55) - all four pieces (lol) - and I have the burn on my finger to prove it (soldering iron). My first couple of solders were rather pathetic, and yup, melted some ties. But after a couple, I started to get the hang of it.

Soon there will be trains! [IMG] [IMG]

This sounds quite familiar! [IMG] But I can't wait for the day I'm in a position for it to happen! If only progress in finishing my basement was moving much faster!

Will you be posting up photos soon?

    :D

Good to hear, Rick [IMG] The start of tracklaying is always an exciting event. Just wish that I was organised enough to solder the feed wires before laying the track

    Colonel,
Maybe I can ask you. I have pics - without track - of my benchwork and backdrop, which I am going to store in the images section. I applied for an account and received it some time ago. Does the account time out as I am waiting for Dane (my son) to return and help me post them.

I got tired of people actually asking if I had a layout... lol!

    Rick,
Remember, it's no fun if you don't burn at least one finger with the soldering iron. [IMG] As for me, I lost count of how many burns. [IMG] Anyway, keep us posted on your progress.

    Richard,
I work on a couple of friends layout, helping them build theres - 3 other layouts than mine to be exact. When I do the webbing for their mountains I use cereal boxes and hot glue.

I normally wear one glove as I have burned my fingers lots using hot glue, so I use the protected hand to hold things down. Last night I was holding something with my unprotected hand and thought I was putting glue on the card board. Nope, it was my fingers. Today? Three nice blistering blisters.
