Well it's happened again, another weekend is in the books. How successful were you in getting things done on your model railroad list?

Friday I was able to finish up the detail work on the D&RGW GP30 and get it washed up and ready for primer. I also started working on my small control panels for the Galesburg City Job. Currently the switch buttons for the turnouts are mounted on the fascia but this is confusing for anyone who operates the layout as a guest. An internet search and some time with a graphics program allowed me to come up with a mini 5X9 inch centralized control panel design for each module.

Saturday we went and watch Jared's final High School soccer game. It was a blow out, just not in their favor. We spent the rest of the day getting some pictures and having lunch at the famous Palms dinner in Atlanta Illinois before stopping by my not so local hobby shop and picking up a fascia mount switch for the layout. It was my best buds Birthday so we celebrated by taking him out to dinner.

Sunday I was able to cut out all three plus one spare control panels from some 1/8-inch scrap fascia board I had. I also cut out the the rest of the material for said control panels then carefully drilled out the locations for the switch buttons. It was tedious but it should be worth it when it is all done. I painted the GP30 in primer and applied the first color coat, the Aspen Gold. I also worked some more on the post 1980 caboose set and got them ready for decals. All in all, a busy weekend.

So how about you? What did you get done this weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble once again on Friday the 21st to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and...

^ I need to start thinking about control panels. Especially the staging yard and wiring a rotary matrix. As for this past weekend, I got the plywood sub-base put in that I planned on the middle peninsula of my layout. This will be a little town "Cholly Gap", Virginia. There well be a reversing loop cutting through the middle of town and "down in a cut". Anyway, here's a shot of what was done....

My photos are getting to be a little redundant but I did build another 1914 Model T kit. I've become quite the Jordan Highway Miniatures collector. I have about 20 more kits to build of various vehicles.

Not much to report from this weekend. Saturday, I was able to get a bit of ballasting done. As well as some turnout maintenance. Cleaned up around the layout. (Put away tools, paints, ground cover and such) -- it was getting a bit out of hand.

Hope ya'll had one heck of a great weekend,
    Wolf

It pretty much rained here all weekend. I've never sprayed with an airbrush indoors while it's been raining, even indoors, I'm wary of the results of humidity on paint. This coming weekend is supposed to be nice, so I should get something done.
