Another weekend, and October for that matter, is in the books. How well did you do this past weekend?

I had a busy weekend and a lot of fun. Friday my club, NSBN, set up our T-Trak modules at the Normal Public library, then Saturday morning we opened the doors to the public and ran trains. Besides our club, we also had a modular O scale layout and a young man with his HO layout. The crowd was decent sized and was a hit with the kids. One of my friends that is in the above mentioned O scale club and I got together an talked about building a modular O scale switching layout. I sat down with him and drew up a rough set of plans then latter used my Anyrail software to develop a small (for two rail O anyway) L shaped layout that will have four industries and a passing siding. Sunday was more running before taking the T-Trak modules down and heading home. A nice relaxing weekend with friends and trains.

So how about you? What did you do this weekend? Train shows, club open houses? Maybe you stayed home and completed some projects on the home layout. Whatever you did this weekend for model railroading, let us know. We'll come back on Friday the 7th and start another weekend in what is now officially the National Month of Model Railroading. Until next time, have a great week and...

My goals were modest, but necessary. I cleaned all my track with the CMX machine, even the sidings and the yard. For the yard, I found it was quicker to just push the car back and forth by hand. The back-and-forth stuff is slow because I've got acceleration programmed into the subway motors I use for track cleaning. Took two full tanks of lacquer thinner.

Sunday I mostly just watched football. But, while that was going on I started the Cornerstone modulars building. I've got the walls all desprued and assembled. Next step is painting.

My dad and I went to a show a couple hours away on Saturday, also reacquainted with some familiar faces there as well.

I picked up a boxcar, pulpwood flat car and a pair of coal hoppers for $5 a piece, also found a caboose interior kit and several structure detail parts.

My dad picked up a couple N Scale cabooses and nearly bought a Lionel O27 B&O GP30. Negotiated to $225, but the guy sold it by the time he got back with the cash.... that happens.

Sunday, I got my Funaro B&O M23 mostly complete, ready for paint. Also started interior work on a modified TYCO caboose.

As announced, I went to the LHS to stock up on Kadees, both #5s and #148s, as well as a couple of other items like decals.

That inspired me to assemble a couple of kits that had been waiting for a bit (among lots of others that are there to alleviate the occasional bouts of boredom).
