Well as hard as some of us try to avoid it, it's Monday once again. All loaded up and ready to go. by Jim Wiggin posted May 16, 2016 at 7:16 AM I finally got out of here around 9:00am, two hours after I wanted to, but not too late. Traffic was light right up until I got near Dayton Ohio. Traffic construction and the lack of people knowing what cruise control was, slowed me down a bit but by 3:30 I was there and the other half of the Galesburg City Job, Bill, was there, only beating me by three minutes. Set up at Ohio N Scale Weekend by Jim Wiggin posted May 16, 2016 at 7:16 AM Set up was pretty easy and within about two hours we had the modules unloaded, set up, level and running trains. By then it was time for pizza. We were both pretty hungry after eating a granola bar here and there so even after pizza we went and got some tacos and ice cream later. Hey, trains shows aren't supposed to be healthy. We got lucky on a room that was only two miles away, with a fair price and while older, very clean. We'll be back again next year. Bill's Santa Fe by Jim Wiggin posted May 16, 2016 at 7:16 AM Saturday we cleaned track, ran our first op session and talked to a lot of people. I wish I could say I sold out of my custom paint but unfortunately I did not. For Galesburg, our next meet, I'll concentrate on the modules more than anything....Lesson learned. Saturday we both won a door prize with me winning a cool package of odds and ends from Evergreen styrene, hmm they must know I have buildings to scratch build. Bill won a gift certificate. After that we had a great catered German meal complete with creme puffs for a sweet ending. That still did not stop us from making another Ice Cream run! Trackage rights by Jim Wiggin posted May 16, 2016 at 7:16 AM Sunday we did another complete "day" switching our industries and talking to folks and generally having a good time. Like anything however, the ending time of 3:00 snuck up on us and we quickly got our last purchases and packed our trains and modules into our vehicles. The ride back to Illinois was a lot more relaxed than the trip out. Very little traffic with plenty of time to think about how to make everything better for Galesburg. By 10:30, I was home and everything including the modules were back in place. All in all, a great weekend despite the cold...YUK. So how about you? What was your weekend like? Let us know, with an image or two if you have them. We'll come back on Friday the 20th and start the process all over again. Until then, have a great weekend, stay safe and... High Greens!
Well, I did manage to get some work done. (Even with my cousin visiting from Germany). I worked on my scenery a bit. Startin to get in the groove of it. Hope ya'll had a great weekend, Wolf
I got a lot of personal things done Saturday. That being said, I ended up falling asleep way to early (6pm) and the next thing I knew, it was 2am. I work at night and usually take a nap before going out on Saturday but I wanted to get to a couple of places when they opened. Next Saturday, there's a parade and a bike race going on here so I'll be home bound. I should get some modeling done then.
Spent Saturday working as part of the range crew for this year's Team America Rocketry Challenge. Saw a lot of motivated kids fly a lot of original designs to win lots of scholarship money. It's always a highlight of my year. After being on the field from 5:30am until almost 7:00pm - most of it on my feet - I spent Sunday mostly sleeping and recovering. LOL
While I was at work tonight, I realized that I forgot to mention the best thing about my weekend. I got a Kato N scale E655 "Nagomi" five car train set in the mail: 13237595_945171515581311_9165246915967838866_n by WPZephyrFan posted May 14, 2016 at 2:29 PM I also picked up this additional car for The Emperor of Japan: 13241400_945172018914594_6587135783408058396_n by WPZephyrFan posted May 14, 2016 at 2:29 PM
