We are back! Did you have a good weekend? Let's see how we all did.

For me, this weekend was all about cleaning. Angela and I made about 5 trips back and forth from my former storage unit and filling up the garage with the contents. A lot of items were tossed in favor of more space. Sunday a trip to get a few firework goods for tonight was in order before working on the garage project which will be another work shop besides as a home for the car. Hopefully between the next week, I can get the garage organized enough to start building more modules for the City Job.

So how about you? What did you get done this weekend? Let us know. Or maybe, perhaps you are still off? let us know what is in the works. We'll get together once again on Friday the 7th to start the process all over again. Until then, enjoy a short work week, please play safe and to all of us Americans out there...

    HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!

    High Greens!

I got a very little accomplished on my layout. First - I experienced kind of a funk. Had no motivation to work on my layout. But, I did get a walk way installed on the whisker tracks of my turntable. I still need to cut the flange ways. I worked a little on some fuel and water stands for my diesel service platform. The rest of the weekend was a few more honey do's. I am coming out of my funk, so hopefully tomorrow I can get some stuff done.

Thanks, for listening, hope ya'll have a great Independence day!!

Weekend's still going on! I've gotten all the framing to finish benchwork done that I wanted. Am working on an overpass where the mainline crosses over the entry to the staging yard. Hope to finish that, get it all cleaned up and maybe a photo or 2. Love these 4 day weekends!

A couple of things on the menu over the weekend.

I assembled one of the three Roundhouse old-timer flat cars, with a difference - a Kadee coupler on one end and a horn-hook on the other. Great for running locos not yet converted (or hard to convert) with the rest of the roster of cars.

Then, one of those things that keeps one scratching one's head.

I have two A-B-A sets of Proto F3s in green CN livery and they look great when run in complete sets. I had some difficulty coupling the second F3A to the train, so I looked closer. The little spring on the coupler had vanished. So I swap A units and... same problem. Same reason.o_O

So I look at all six engines and out of the twelve couplers, nine are missing their springs! Aarggh!!!

I was glad I keep a good sized stock of #5s.

In another thread someone mentioned that Star Trek's James Doohan (Scotty) was a model railroader (passed in 2005)... Maybe he held the secret of which subspace manifold those little springs disappear into.

Long weekend over. Happy Firecrackers everyone! Let's see.
    • Finished the bench work framing joining the 2 sides of the attic. All done w/ bench work! Now lots of plywood, track, and wiring.
    • Finished the underpass that brings the staging yard out to Albemarle City.
    • Spent the afternoon cleaning and vacuuming the train room
Cant wait to Labor Day weekend!! (y)

Spent the weekend tearing down my portion of the modules & getting ready for my next layout project. With Jim's move, it seemed like the perfect time. The next modular project should feature something local. Stay tuned...

You mean I decide to stay in Illinois and you are not going to do the City Job?
